Toontown Rewritten is a fan-made reboot of the original Toontown online by Disney. The original was doing pretty well but it was shut down by Disney for multiple different reasons. However, diehard fans of Toontown online that wanted to see the game progress even further decided to take matters into their own hands and came together to create this excellent remake of the game. Of course it doesn’t have the same finesse that the original did since it is after all a fan made game, it’s still very enjoyable and regardless and is definitely worth giving a shot to.
The first thing you’ll do in Toontown Rewritten is create your own character. The character creation process is fairly in-depth and allows players to customize their in-game avatar quite significantly. Once you have your character ready to go you’ll be able to enter the game world and begin your adventure. The game helps new players start things off by giving them a bunch of tutorial tasks that will teach them the basics of the game.
In terms of gameplay, Toontown Rewritten feels reminiscent of the original Toontown in a lot of ways but at the same time it isn’t afraid of implementing new features into the mix to provide players with a more refreshing experience. The charm of this game lies in the fact that you’ll be able to enjoy it whether you’re looking for a casual experience or something more immersive. There are lots of things to do such as quests, exploration, gardening, fishing, racing and a whole lot more. The game also consists of some really fun mini-games in which you’ll get to solve some very cleverly designed puzzles.
Toontown Rewritten is great fun to play overall but it’s held back a little bit because of the fact that it’s rather lackluster in terms of its technical aspects. The game crashes from time to time for seemingly no reason and the server also has some weird issues that cause players to disconnect all of a sudden. Fortunately, these events don’t occur often enough to have a significant impact on the experience but they’re still rather annoying and will hopefully be fixed at some point in the future.
When it comes to visuals, Toontown Rewritten is very pleasing to look at. It has a very Disney-esque art style which is why all the colors are bright and why some of the character designs are rather comical. The game world also looks beautiful and has many amazing places for the players to immerse themselves in.
Toontown Rewritten is completely free to play so you can play it whenever you want for as long as you want without worrying about any restrictions.
