Avatar World: City Life
Tell stories: your way.
Create your own scenes by arranging objects, places, people characters.
Unlock various surprises using your imagination.
Avatar World: City Life is a sandbox RPG/Simulation for Android and iOS systems.
Over the years, RPGs have developed a strange tie-in to strictly epic fantasy and sci-fi elements. Swords and magic? RPG. Spacecraft and alien races governed by some quasi-science? RPG. Combat elements including having to deal with outright aggressive enemies? RPG.
That’s not the case with Avatar World: City Life.
The emphasis on ‘role’ in role-playing games doesn’t take the form of stat lists and equipment grids. Instead, you have to use imagination and be able to play any kind of story in mind using game elements. Simply put, you mold the role you’re thinking of and play how you want to.
What greets you is a complete world with plenty of venues you can enter, play around in, and interact with the NPCs. Every occupant is uniquely designed from looks to reactions. Tap the NPC and choose from at least 4 body movements and/or reactions. You can come up with plenty of scenarios after igniting a bit of your imagination. There’s more to a place than simply using people characters. Some objects may look like clutter, but you can pick them up and have a character use them to get more creative effects. There are even items that lead to more secrets when you use them in the right spots. Surprise yourself with the number of stories you can come up with on the spot with the right combination of people, places, and things.
Let’s get to another core of the game. Hint: it’s found in the title. ‘Avatars’ are your personally-created characters. You’re allowed to create up to 3 Avatars upon downloading the app. An extra slot is provided after making an in-app purchase. Choose to play as a baby, a child, a teenager, or an adult. A wide customization range is presented as you start from your character’s body all the way to his/her starting clothes. A new character starts city life at the train station. Quickly change scenery by tapping the exit arrow at the upper left of the screen and choose a new place. You ‘call’ your character to the new setting by tapping the smartphone icon at the lowest right of the screen, choosing the address book, and picking your Avatar or any of the other citizens.
More than 1 Avatar can be introduced to a scene at once. Plan your story by setting different actions for each character. To make them use objects, simply tap an item, hold it, and give it to a character in the scene. Tapping the character wielding something gives you a new set of actions. You will come across interactive elements that make a unique response when an Avatar gets a hold of both. Be surprised by the number of interactions you can unlock by simply trying everything you can find in a place.
Speaking of in-app purchases, this app offers additional clothes, objects, animations, and new places. These are one-time payment packages that add plenty of narrative depth to your game. The free version offers more than enough elements for plenty of stories though.
In summary, Avatar World: City Life can be more than just a game. You and your companion/partner/kid can play around and create a story on the spot. Avatar World: City Life Summary
