After a terrible storm that wiped away most of the Moai’s settlements on the coast, the Hero from previous Moai games is once again faced with a challenge – to get the settlement in order, and set sail with warriors from the island to explore a new land just off the coast. What follows for you is an epic adventure of virtual world management, one full of challenges and exciting gameplay mechanics.
The game is more of a rapid click-based gameplay. Your main mission is to produce resources that are necessary for accomplishing the tasks laid out in the Objectives list in each level. For example, in order to fill up holes in the paths, you’d consume food for the energy of your workers. Food can be produced continuously by the fields, but can also be collected from ponds found in some levels.
There are a lot of obstacles that you will encounter, which will also count towards your objectives. For instance, Level 3 will force you to allocate 200 units of Food in order to feed a giant that the tremors and floods have forced out of their caves. You’d have to prioritize that task, but you’d have to expend food in getting rid of other blocks so that other vacant lots can be freed and used for either Sawmills or Quarries, which produce Wood and Rocks, respectively.
There are even levels here that are located underwater, and the objectives you’ll have to fulfill are also based on that environment as well. These include chasing away Octopuses by giving them food, as well as freeing up paths to treasure chests that contain the relics that you’re tasked to look for, or additional resources like Mana.
Trading is also part of the gameplay’s mechanics as well. Some resources cannot be produced, like Metal, and can only be acquired by trading resources for that particular commodity.
There are also obstacles that require you to collect rare materials like Crystals from the environment with which to bribe a tribe sorcerer so certain parts of the level can be illuminated. Some Chests could also require explosive barrels, which can only be produced by trading Mana with the tribe jeweler.
With so many challenges in each level, Moai IV Terra Incognito Collector’s Edition gives you a choice between Casual and Easy modes. Casual mode is the easiest mode, with no time limits so that you can enjoy the experience without the stress of managing your time and keeping within the limit in achieving your goals.
Of course, you’ll definitely find the storyline in the game very engaging. You’d certainly want to see the adventure through to its end and that means you’ll also want to purchase the full version of the game.
