Merchant of Venice is a fantastic and highly immersive game in which you inherit your father’s business in Venice and vow to turn it into the most prosperous business empire across the world. There’s a lot to like in this game especially the fact that it truly lets players take control and allows them to do whatever they’d like to whether it’s for the best or worst and this leads to a much more engaging experience.
Although there are tons of impressive things about this game, one of its standout features is the incredible tutorial sequence. Basically as soon as you get into the game you’ll be taught all the basics with the help of a step by step tutorial which will consist of absolutely everything you need to know in order to successfully progress in the game. Aside from just being in-depth, the tutorial is heavily rewarding as well so that’s a great bonus as well.
In terms of gameplay, think of Merchant of Venice as a city-builder game but instead of building a steady you’ll be building, as mentioned before, a business empire. This means that you’re going to be setting up stalls across the city, creating shops of different kinds, expanding the area, importing goods by using ships, using many business techniques to attract customers and so much more. There’s a whole lot to do in this game and you’ll pretty much never feel idle when playing it because you’ll always run into some fun task to do.
Speaking of tasks, the game assigns them to you as well from time to time and while you might have to get out of your way to do these, they’re still well worth the effort because the rewards for completing them are just too great to pass up on. There are also tons of other cool features in the game and one of the most unique ones is the diplomacy feature. Basically you can form a sort of partnership with another live player and once you have this partnership you can help each other out by trading goods and such.
Onto the visuals, Merchant of Venice looks great. The game, as the name implies, is based upon the city of Venice and it’s been mimicked excellently. The attention to detail is amazing, the artwork is solid and the textures are really sharp as well. Backing the visuals up are the high quality sound effects that blend in nicely with the theme of the game.
Merchant of Venice allows players to use real world money for many tasks like purchasing the in-game currency or speeding up ongoing tasks.
