In Aquapolis, you play the role of an underwater engineer who is being trained by the steward of Atlantis to create communities that are self-sustaining and earning their own income. After successfully gaining the keys to Atlantis, your prowess begins to spread across the underwater cities and you find yourself being called from one steward to another, all to help them build a beautiful and sustainable city under the seas.
At the start of the game, you’ll be receiving instruction from the steward of Atlantis. You’ll learn, first and foremost, how to build a residential structure. Residential structures are the cash crop of your cities – they earn you income, in the form of clams as in-game currency. Each building has a base value in terms of rent that it gives as income to the city. However, you can upgrade each building to increase its rent value and add to the cumulative income to the city.
Later on, you’ll learn how to build gardens as well. Gardens don’t earn income, but they do clean the air around it. Any structures that are placed near to a garden will automatically get a boost of cleanliness even without installing a filter, which you otherwise will need to do to add a cleanliness rating to the building.
Construction will require a number of sharks. The most basic structure, the Shell Shack, will need only one Shark to construct. However, as the buildings become larger and more expensive, you’ll need more than one shark to carry out the construction. You can add sharks to your city, but it will cost you 10,000 clams.
In addition, construction will also require a number of corals. Keep an eye on the coral figure at the bottom of the screen. Just like sharks, you can purchase additional corals for a certain amount of clams, the least of which is 5,000 for 200 corals.
One unique attribute of Aquapolis is the ability to purchase existing structures. In some levels, you can purchase residential buildings although you will have to wait until the structure is put up for sale. You can try to negotiate for a lower price or, if you have enough resources, you can buy the building right away at its full price. You can also sell structures as well, following the same procedure.
Every level has a goal. Typical goals include raising a certain amount of rent, which you can accomplish by building a number of buildings and upgrading them. Some goals may also require attaining a certain cleanliness level. They’re very diverse, which is why you will certainly enjoy playing the virtual world simulator.
