In Train Station, you are given the chance to create something a little special. You can take the most beautiful old steam engines, and from there create a company that will span the country. Along the way you can build a collection of trains all the way up to the most modern maglev vehicles.
When you first play you have a simple tutorial to show you what to do, there are some nice rewards too and you can see how to send your trains for goods or passengers and build and improve your station.
Once you complete the tournament then you can begin to take control of everything for yourself, you are free to choose your destinations, and what buildings go into your station. Each trian that you send will give you experience, coins and materials.
You can create trains that focus on any of these aspects, and you have a certain number of passengers and mail available, based on the size of your station and if you collect mail while you play. The materials are requested by sending your trains to a location, and they come back with what you need but take time to do so.
There are also express trains every few hours, that just pass through. These can have several different rewards for you, from diamonds to materials and coins. You can spend your coins on new trains, upgraded carriages and buildings.
As well as coins there are diamonds, which you earn every level and can purchase for real money. These can be spent on special buildings or speeding up your trains travel times. This can be very useful if you need something in a hurry.
As you gain levels you are able to travel through time and get yourself faster and more powerful trains, that pull more carriages and travel faster. These better trains can give you a real edge and upgrading them is a good idea, and they look amazing too.
There is a really simple and elegant control system in Train Station, and this gives you a lot of freedom, you can focus on the game or have it run in the background too. The graphics, while simple present the trains in a really smooth and beautiful way.
For a management game there is a lot of fun to be had here, especially if you love trains. There is a lot of depth to Train Station and it is actually a really engaging game once you get into it.
